After several months of asking lots of questions, Lauren got saved on Tuesday February 8th!!! She had been asking for quite a while about how to get saved or that she wanted to get saved, but she didn't seem to have a true understanding. However, the night she did get saved, the Lord seem to say to me (not audibly of course!), "She really means it." And so right before I tucked her into bed that night, we prayed a salvation prayer and Lauren made the most important decision of her life, right then and there. Hallelujah!!! Words can not express how overjoyed Robert and I were!!
The next day, she excitedly got up in front of her K5 class and told them all that she got saved the night before--a sure sign for us that she really meant what she said and did. We went to visit family later that week and without hesitation, she told them about getting saved too. Anyone she knows, she has been sure to tell about her decision. This past Sunday, Lauren got baptized at our church and had a crowd of her own "cheering" her on in her decision. Of course we were there, as well as my parents, Uncle Lee and Annie, Cousin Julia and our friends J.D. and Katie and our church family. It was an exciting day!!!
So some may say what's all this excitement about? What does it mean to "get saved"? Well, salvation is a free gift to us from God. You see without the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, God's perfect Son, we would all die and go to hell for all eternity. Our sin separates us from God. We are ALL sinners. But God loves us SOOO much that He sent Jesus to die for our sins so we can live with Him forever in Heaven.
The Bible says, "For the wages (payment) of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
What are the steps of salvation?
1. Admit that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23-For all have sinned...)
2. Believe that only Jesus can save you from your sins. (Acts 16:31-...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved...) It only takes a "child-like" faith to trust in Him.
3. Confess (ask forgiveness of) your sins to the Lord and ask Him to come into your heart and save you from your sins. (I John 1:9- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.)
It's that easy. Some people try to complicate it and try to reason the process out, but God made it so very simple for us. All we need to do is believe on Him. I trusted in Christ as an almost 8 year old girl and I've never regretted that decision. Have you made that decision? I'd love to talk to you about it. That is so exciting!!!Christopher made that decision when he was 5 too and I was a little unsure. But as time has gone by, he has shown me that he knew the decision that he was making was right and he has been sure ever since! Congratulations Lauren!!!
Uncle Philip and I are so proud of you. This is such a wonderful thing. We love you very much and are so thrilled at your decision!!!
