Lauren had her first gymnastics meet yesterday. She and her classmates have been practicing their routines for several weeks and got to show off their skills in front of about 60 people (maybe more--it was very crowded). She started on the balance beam, then went to her floor exercise, then the bars, and then the trampoline. She did great. On her bar routine, she did have a slight bobble that I thought was going to cause tears. She was holding herself up on the bar in the giraffe position and actually flipped all the way around and landed on her back on the mat--not a part of her routine. She was/is okay. She sat up and was deciding whether or not to cry when everyone watching, started clapping really loud for her so she toughened up and continued. Whew, I really thought she was going to cry. She's such a big girl! At the end of the meet, each child received a trophy. It was alot of fun and Lauren had quite the cheering section: mommy, daddy, Luke, Grammy, Poppie, Uncle Lee, Annie, Julia, and her friend J.D. There were lots of flashes going off as her "paparazzi" snapped lots of pictures.
