Last weekend, we traveled down to Stone Mtn Georgia to have a short family vacation before Lauren heads off to school. The kids were so excited since we had just been there back in May, so they knew what to expect. We stayed at the park which made it easy to go to the laser show and all the other attractions. I believe this was the first if not one of the first times we've stayed with the kids in a hotel. Usually when we travel, we visit family and stay with them. Lauren kept asking about a pool being there and couldn't wait to swim. They were both excited and giggled like crazy because they got to sleep in the same bed which was a sleeper sofa. The joys of being a kid when you get excited about little things!
We made it to the top of the mtn once via the skyride/sky buckets on the first day. Someone took this picture for us and when we looked up to the camera, we realized we were looking right into the sun. So that explains the crazy looks on our faces! We did attempt to hike up the mountain with the kids but the only made it about halfway. Maybe next time, we can hike all the way up.
If you've never been there, every night they have a laser show on the side of the mountain and shoot fireworks. Lauren absolutely loved it! Luke liked it great the first night but was so tired from all the activities that he fell asleep about 10 minutes before the show started the second night. He slept through the entire show and the fireworks! He can sleep anywhere and through anything. Of course, we bought light up toys for the kids to have during the show. What kind of light toys did they have? Lightsabers...a perfect fit for our family! (and a light-up bubble gun too).
The kids loved the outdoor obstacle course that ended with a zipline/rope swing. Lauren and Robert did the Sky Hike course again too. The Sky Hike is three levels and about three stories high. It's an obstacle course in the air that you are harnessed into. She loves it! We all had a lot of fun and look forward to maybe squeezing in one more trip before our pass expires in January. If you've never been to Stone Mtn GA, it's really a great place to go that's not too expense and really neat to visit.
